OK - I bought a Sony Wega TV. I pronounce it Vayga. My wife and co-worker (and my co-worker's boyfriend) say it's pronounced Wayga. I know I'm right, but I need some backup. Can you guys confirm that it's pronounced Vayga??

I have had a Sony Wega TV since they were introduced on the market - and I pronounce it exactly like you do. Is that enough backup? :)

I've always pronounced mine Vega, since the so-called "W" is just a couple of V's shadowed against each other. But I've never asked anyone at Sony, and I've heard both pronunciations at dealers...

I too call mine wayga.
My 15 month points at it, and calls it choo choo because of his train videos.

Hmmm... Could it be that I was WRONG!!??
The dealer called it Vayga, and in the TV commercial where the foreign exchange student calls it "Fantastico!" and hugs the father, the father calls it Vayga. But there is no definite answer.

I guess I'm unique...
I've always said "wEga". As in "Weeeeeega". (ee as in "seen", not "a" as in "way")

I'm 99.9% certain that it is pronounced "Vega". I recall seeing ads in the past that clarify the the issue of pronunciation - I even think it's specified in my owners manual. You may want to check yours. Anyway... according to a Sony press release...
"In August 1998, production began of Sony's newest CRT, the FD Trinitron and the Wega (pronounced Vega) Trinitron television set."
See the full document here...

I hope this is sufficient evidence to place the issue at rest, renew your domestic bliss, and allow you to get back to watching that awesome new TV

It's definitely always been Vega around here. I tease people I know that see Wayga or Weega or Veega. :)

Vega as in Vegas. It is a V with a shadow V behind it. Very Interesting...
Seriously though, It is Vega. My friends dad used to sell those waaayyyy back in the day when the 21 inch TVs weighed about 300 lbs. Plus, why would they shade a w and make it look like two v's?

I saw the TV ads a few years ago, and they definitely said it as Vega, like Chevy Vega.
Is the composer's name pronounced Wagner or Vagner?
It is "Vagner"; in German, W stands for V, and V stands for F;)
Moreover, he is not RiCHard but RiCKard (or, even better, with a guttural "h") Wagner, if pronounced properly;)
