My first thread ever so sorry in advance for any faux pas. Anyhow, I asked for the double-DVD Kids Are Alright but received the single and am not able to return it ... so I'm wondering what I'm missing. My main interest is pre-Tommy era performance footage; secondary is pre-Tommy interviews. Any help will be greatly appreciated as I need to decide whether to spring for the double and sell the single for peanuts or be satisfied.

The extras, if you're a fan, are well worth it.

The Entwistle stuff is worth shelling out the extra $, IMHO.

There is no pre Tommy bonus footage on disc 2

With the 2 DVD Kids Are Alright, the OX cam is worth the price of the set alone! :righton:

The extras could've been so much better. There's some really cool stuff not used in TKAA.Two examples being POPSIDE from Swedish TV,early '66,25m & The Tom Jones Show.Another thing I wished they would have done for the DVD,would have been to go back to the original sources & if the video was videotape, just do a digital transfer, not convert it to film(ie-the first clip in the film-Smothers Bros.-it looks so much better from the video scorce.)

Fans should definitely own the 2CD set.

I met Jeff Stein last year btw and he's a fun wacky guy.

To be fair, TKAA 2 DVD set does what it does best: present a remastered version of the film with excellent alternate footage from the filming with Keith Moon. I think that the audio commentary or notes states that the Who specifically asked that the film not be extended in its DVD cut with extra footage because it was being saved for another project. Concert footage shot in 1977 for the film was left in the vault at the request of Stein himself because it should never have been shot (His words). All the other footage had to be renegotiated and that took up a lot of money. The Stones RnR Circus could not be used from the original videotape because Abkco wanted more money to use it, so the original film footage was used instead. I'm just glad to finally have a version of the movie not cut short or sounding like Chipmunks on speed :D .

After watching the 2nd DVD, it was worth it. Hearing the frank opinions on the restoration was good and seeing and hearing the OX cam footage was worth it. If you listen to the bass playing parts of the two Shepperton songs, you will want this 2nd DVD, so don't hear it if you are not interested in buying it, otherwise you could be swayed.

I just got the 2DVD set and it's amazing. It's worth checking out the comparisons between the video and the new version on disc two. Any Who fan (including those who own the video) should get this.

I've yet to watch my copy of the 2 DVD version that I picked up at FYE last week, but I should mention that it cost a whopping $10! The store manager informed me that it was part of a chain-wide 'house cleaning'...

Oh my goodness, there's absolutely no comparison. Between being speeded up and having essential portions (like the first half of "A Quick One") chopped out, the VHS edition was a total botch.

Anyone know a quick way to getting to the 5.1 mix of Who Are You? (title #)

For some good sh.tv related fun with this DVD, take a gander at the waveforms of the Shepparton performance during the interview with Jon Astley.

Sell the 1 disc and get the 2 disc set. The multi-angle stuff, the 5:1 mix of "Who Are You" hell I even like the documentary stuff. One of my fav. music DVD's.

Go to the 2nd page of the menu(disc 2) put that yellow dot next to Its Hard:21.... then hit your left arrow button on your dvd remote 6 times. But you should try the quiz first .....
