I'd like to take this opportunity to recommend this masterpiece to my fellow group members.
I saw this movie in theaters when it came out back in 91 and I didn't quite got it, now some years later I find it amazing.
The quality of the transfer and the extensive extras make this a great visual experience.
Although this movie is not for everyone I'm sure Cronenberg's fans will be delighted.
Also, I would like to hear comments from anyone who has watched this very limited release from Criterion, (I made sure I got 2 copies, just in case it goes out of print too soon a la "Salo").

I picked this up last week and plan to watch it this weekend. Thanks for making me wish the weekend was now.... :)

I too saw Naked Lunch right after it was released and remember being disappointed - though, I do admit I had *high* expectations. So, what is it about it now that you find *amazing*? Just curious because I'd like to revisit it?

I didn't know anything about this novel or it's writer back then.
Now after reading this and other novels by Burroughs I understand the movie better.
If you get your hands on this 2 disc set I advice you to watch the extras first, I think this will make watching the movie a more enjoyable experience.

Nelson Muntz, to his buddies Bart, Milhouse and Martin, after having snuck in to see NAKED LUNCH: "I can think of two things wrong with that title." Honestly, what parts I watched the first time escaped me, perhaps I'll give it another chance someday.

I had been reading a lot of Burroughs back then... thought the movie (and the soundtrack) was brilliant. How else could you make a movie of that book??
