View Full Version : Q re: printing on Band on the Run DCC CD cover
I recently won this item on ebay, but the booklet has some major printing errors. The cover and some of the pages have a double-printing effect on them.
Does anyone else have this problem? The guy who sold this to me said nothing about some stupid printing problem.

The disc inside is most important. I own the BOTR DCC and have no such bad printing problem.
I wonder if Steve has any extra art stash. Hope the purchase wasn't expensive! $$$
The Capitol issues still look poor. They had to block out references to Apple and do the art over in places where originally BOTR never had "Helen Wheels" in the UK.
So, you're not in the minority in whole. BUt the DCC disc was printed in Canada I believe and they did a fab job.

The booklet printing for my DCC 'Band..." looks fine too. Sadly, you must've just got one with a glitch. My DCC Badfinger CD has a little bluriness on the back jewel case artwork (bad laser printing?). I just consider it a glitch. Another weird one is my 'Willy and the Poor Boys" vinyl. The label on side two is missing some of the DCC logo and credits (a 2-part printing process I guess). The album info is there and the blank DCC printing templates. Ya know what I mean, I'm having difficulty describing... Any, I think it's just a glitch. The disc is what matters, right?

My copy is perfect, print and sonically speaking! Sorry to hear about your printing defect.
Well, the disc is mint, so at least I've got that. Really ticks me off to think I could have bought this new and probably defect-free when it came out for the same price I paid.
I'll hold on to it for now, but if I ever find a better copy for a good price, I'll probably ditch this one.
Thanks for all the responses, though.

Unfortunately, printing of the booklets occurs away from the label and it's not always possible to check each booklet for errors. Some mistakes in printing do occur though they are rare, especially with DCC releases. Since the books are shipped directly from the printers to the plant for packaging, this can and does happen from time to time. I'm not sure if Steve would have a booklet for that as the inventory of books and trays sent to DCC would most likely be elsewhere at this time. I know when I was at DCC you could always just call us and we'd send you a replacement booklet or tray without a problem. Quality was very important to us. I know Steve and everyone there felt that way.

Matt, It's a long shot but you might want to try Tom Port at Better Records. He bought up the last of the DCC stock so if any one has a spare booklet it would be him. I wouldn't get my hopes up though. I think that was a fairly popular title.
And while I'm here, just a quick "Hello" to Diamond Dave. I'd wondered what had become of you. Glad to see you back amongst us. As you can see the board is more active than ever in it's new home. Now we're Jeff and Steve's problem and you can just sit back and enjoy. Welcome home!:p

Thanks Dave. It's been awhile but it's good to be back. I see we're neighbors of sorts too. I look forward to talking music with ya' in the future. Take care:-)
Thanks for the advice, everyone!
P.S. And good to see you back Diamond Dave!
