Well, I finally got my Elvis "Aloha From Hawaii" DVD last night and gave it a spin.

All I can say is......if you like Elvis at ALL, GET THIS DVD!!

They did such a great job transferring this...the film textures look like it was filmed yesterday.

The audio is true 5.1, with Elvis vocals center, the band and orchestra left and right, and the crowd noise, with some backing vocals to the rear.

I REALLY enjoyed this DVD. It really feels like you are at the concert.
STUNNING picture quality, especially for something done in 1973.

Just thought you guys would like to know.

Thanks for the info Mikey. The one question I have is whether all the songs performed are included? I remember reading about a year ago at the official EPE website that two songs had to be dropped from the video re-release because of a royalty dispute with the publishers (I believe "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" may have been one of the songs). Is this the case with the dvd also?

Hey GuyDon.......the answer is yes and no.

Yes, they had to omit I think three songs that they could not get clearances for.

However, they give you 4 bonus songs at the end of the DVd, with "Early Morning Rain" being one of them, and its great.

Those missing songs dont detract from the concert at all, IMHO. If you didnt know they were there, you dont miss them.

Really a nice job tho, I'm hoping that they issue more live Elvis DVDs...they have a ton of shows filmed from the 1970s, and the show at Annapolis has some songs that he did only a few times , like "Its Impossible" and "A Portrait Of My Love".
