Cosmos Factory- Made My Day!!!

Got home today and found a nice flat package from USPS today. I thought it was one of those "inflatable basketballs" as we referred to packages like that under the Christmas tree years ago.

It was my fortune to find the test pressing of Cosmos factory from Steve and Kevin. I guess I am the first on MY block(and probably a few blocks) to get one! My first impression was born before it was even on the turntable- MAN is this thing heavy and thick. I've never seen anything like it!

Next- playing was sweet. Uncompressed, not bright, not bass heavy, spacious and airy- man the separation! My ears haven't had dessert like this for a while. I may even pull out some of my LONG forgotten MFSL, Nautilus, and Japanese stuff and have some more dessert. And I gave up buying LPs like this for the convenience of CD!!!

Steve- when do these go on sale???

I wonder how this would compare to Cosmos Factory CD done by Steve? Might be time for a listening party!

Thanks Steve, Kevin, and HZ for a house for us to hang out- and for my nice little piece of history. I will treasure it always.

I don't exactly know when these are being officially released by Acoustic Sounds. Probably in April. Those interested will have to check with them (there is a link to them on my homepage).

Boy, if ya got any you don't know what to do with-----you know----couple extra ones on the floor of the studio-----wellllllll----as a big fan and all----I'd take one off your hands to help ya get all that clutter out of your way. Test pressings? TEST pressings! But Acoustic Sounds is a quality outfit, right? Number 5,000 would sound the same as number 0001.

Lets see if I remember this........ take the 401 to Detroit. South on 75 to 80. Go west and cross over the mountains at Yosomite. South to LA..... then...... Hmmm, where's that map? :D

Test pressings? Ah, test pressings... Do what I do to take the edge or envy away from having these blasted test pressings. Get a white DJ (throw the higher quality release one out), steam remove the labels from the record, replace with a "round" Avery white label (if they exist) and write with a big, black magic marker "TEST PRESSING #1 of 1". Now you can be the envy of your block and all the cool chicks will come over to listen. Heck, you can even tell them there's more than that one, baby. Maybe they'll even let you ride on the back of their scooters? Okay, back to my coffee and dreams of owning a test pressing (and hanging with cool chicks).
