Anybody pick up the new remastered import from Holland of Peter Gabriel's "Shaking the Tree"? A friend of mine has it and likes it. Apparently the rest of his titles are on the way soon. Looks like CDNOW is posting May 6th for the other titles in limited edition form.

I've been holding off buying PG3 on CD all these years after hearing someone else's which sounded awful.
Hopefully the wait will soon be over!

I have to admit I'm a little scared. I wish Steve was in charge on these. Fingers are fully double crossed!!

I bought "Shaking the Tree" on CD when it came out originally and while I like PG's music, the sound suffers from the usual digital maladies of the period, notably harshness and induced listener fatigue. I hope the remasters soften the sound.
I wish I could find the title on vinyl to compare the CD with to determine if the sound quality is due to the digits or due to the compilation master tape.
I got my copy from amazon.co.uk yesterday. It does sound better than the first issue - warmer, fuller throughout.
"Big Time" in particular no longer sounds harsh and actually has a bottom end!
It was remastered by Tony Cousins at Metropolis, London.
I look forward to the individual remasters.

I've never been a fan of the standard US CDs and the UK CD I've got of the second self-titled album (with him scratching the picture) is pretty bad too. I've got UK vinyl of the early lps and they're much better. Hopefully the remasters will be better and not remixed...
Hmmm. I just heard "Sledgehammer" from Shaking The Tree, and it sounds...different. The keyboard parts during the middle flute solo sound more in the forefront. Some of the horn parts sound extended.
Do I smell a remix?
