Just got thru watching 3 episodes of Space 1999 on a rental DVD from Netflix.
I tried Season One: Episodes 1 thru 3.
I remember watching this series when it was first on in 1975 (I was 15) and at that time I thought it was pretty cool.
But watching it this weekend really shows me how boring this series could be. Barbara Bain was an awful actress. She always has the same stoic expression to her face. http://www.space1999.net/~catacombs/cybermuseum/Screenshots/Breakaway/3.jpg
Martin Landau is better and so is his right hand man, the Professor/Engineer character.
The sets remain very cool and I love the space ships. But the acting and slow pace of the shows (watching these late at night would be a great cure for insomnia) just doesn't cut it.
Unlike Star Trek, this ensemble just doesn't have that chemistry that makes for an exciting series.
Any fans out there?
