The RHCP "Mother's Milk" is on MFSL Gold, not DCC. Never heard it though.

I've always wondered if the MFSL was worth picking up. I'm not into RHCP overall, but I really like this album. I've played the stock CD within the last few weeks and found it rather lacking.

I have Mother's Milk on MFSL gold. Great Album. I would compare the difference between the original cd and the gold cd to the MFSL gold cd of Nirvana and the regular cd. In my opinion, while the MFSL cd is a little bit clearer, the difference is small and if you already have the original cd, would not recommend paying a premium price to get the MFSL version.

The MFSL can be found very cheaply, I believe.

Too bad no one has been crying out for a remix/remaster of Californication. I mentioned on another thread how dreadful this one sounds IMO (on vinyl especially, but the CD is horrible in it's own way). What a tragedy, because there are some great tracks on there. I can't even listen to it except on a boombox where the shortcomings aren't as well revealed.

I concur, Mike! Californication has got to be the LOUDEST disc in my collection. The distortion is absolutely horrible.

Try opening a .WAV rip of "Around The World" from Californication in Cool Edit Pro (or any other audio editor). You won't believe the clipping you'll see!!

Funny thing is: I don't think -any- of those clipped segments are at the maximum (100%) level. That kind of mastering is horrifying beyond comprehension!

I'm glad I'm not alone here! I've actually used this disc as the "anti-demo" to illustrate what happens when all hell breaks loose at the mastering stage.

My 3 year old could have done a better job on her Fisher Price tape recorder (that's a fact!).
