I rented his greatest hits (A & M records) and am "hooked"
Stylistically speaking, he seems to be all over the place, but I like everything, especially the jazzier stuff. Any suggestions on any great recordings/pressings?

Look Sharp! is one of the greatest debut albums ever recorded. Not a weak track on there.

I'm The Man, Look Sharp. Body & Soul, Night and Day. All very important albums.

Jumpin' Jive, and Live (80s) all wonderful.

He had a 3-sided LP called Big World which was basically all new studio material played live. Still a sonic, organic experience and quite nice....now, found either used or UK Import.

All the above are great and essential. Live 1980-1986 is one of my favorite live albums.

If you want to go further, don't overlook 1991's Laughter And Lust, his last straightforward "pop" album and a great one.

It's hard to beat "Look Sharp"!

Also, I like "Big World" and "Night And Day".

There's an Import 2-CD set call "This Is It" it really covers a lot of ground, and sounds good!

Night and Day is amazing, don't break the bank, but get it if you can! I don't have the Will Power MFSL (I have the A&M vinyl);)

I really like Night and Day, I own the MFSL gold disk and it sounds great. I must say I never heard the remaster that was released a couple of years ago.

Uhhhh0oh, Dave, I'm feeling my resolve start to crumble. ;)

Maybe I'll pick up the stock version to see if I like it first. Should have never read this thread.

YESSSS! This was an unjustly overlooked and underrated album. The closing ballad, "Drowning," is a heartbreaker, and "Stranger than Fiction," "Hit Single" and others are just great, intelligent pop.
