I have some guitar amp speakers (raw drivers) that need repair work and would like to know if any of you could recommend a reliable person/company who does this type of service.
Also, if a speaker has a good cone, but the voice coil needs replacing, can the original cone be re-used after the voice-coil is replaced?
thanks, tele...

I know of a great place but they do not do mail order. And they only deal with stereo shops, not normal citizens so I'm not even sure where they are located. But I CAN get speakers repaired!
I know of another place that will just RUIN your speakers, too. Don't ask
Sorry - this note is sorta useless, huh?
Well how's this? Maybe you should ask around at your local stereo stores especially those that take in trades! You might get lucky!
I wish you the best of luck!

PS I've had voice coils replaced, keeping the original cone and cones replaced keeping the original voice coil. So it IS possible!

Thanks Sckott, I'll give them a call tomorrow.
Gary: I've been told by a few places the cones could not be saved, and then other places it's possible, but depends upon the speaker. The Sunn speakers I may just go ahead and have reconed any way. My '59 Supro has a mint original 10" Rola but the VC has some distortion. Really trying to keep it as original as I can (it has a mint cone). Let me see if I can do a photo:
Very nice antique!
Last piece of advice: Don't settle for someone who says "it can't be done". It's probably their skill set they are talking about (i.e.: THEY can't do it).
Good luck! Hope it works out for you!
