I think Steve could do an awesome job with this one. I still can't figure out why this live gem remains unseen on CD. Does anyone know why this one hasn't been released?

Live albums appear to get the chop often in reissue programs. I second this one

I own a grey market CD of it which sounds fine, but I know you can't walk into Sam Goody and buy it.

Think this is one of those "band approval" legal issues? David Byrne did sue the others back in the 1990s.

For an interesting take on the whole convoluted history of the group, see if you can find a copy of "This Must Be the Place -the Adventures of Talking Heads in the 20th Century" by David Bowman.

I seem to remember that about 10 to 12 (!!) years ago in ICE Magazine they listed "The Name Of The Band Is..." as an upcoming release through Warner Bros. I remember the release date ICE listed came and went with no word about a cancellation. At first I figured it was a typical "big music company lists release date but actually releases it a few months later" type of thing. Anyway, it never came out and I never heard why it was cancelled.

And it should be reissued!!!

I seem to remember this being addressed by the long-defunct CD REVIEW, in an article about most-wanted CDs. This was one of the most-requested titles.

To the best of my memory, the label was stuck with a live album that didn't quite fit on to a single CD, meaning they'd have to release a double-disc set, which they didn't want to do. There was a debate, either between the label and the band, or the rest of the band and Byrne, about augmenting the disc with other material from the concerts that were edited for the original LP release, or editing the LP down to a manageable running time.

At this point, with everything from entire tours by Pearl Jam to Lou Reed's METAL MACHINE MUSIC in print, it seems ridiculous that this remains unavailable.
