I recently found a mint Blue Thumb LP of this,
and would like any recommendations (or warnings)
concerning a CD version. Anyone care to comment?

Is the LP pressed on multi-colored vinyl??
I can tell you to avoid the MFSL UDII version as it has the ole' smiley face eq. problem and can inflict pain at higher volumes.;)

No, it's a regular disc. I've heard the first
pressings used the "marbled" vinyl, but have not
seen one.

That's what I was afraid of. Maybe I can find
an earlier release, maybe the budget variety
hasn't been 'remastered'. Sure wish Steve had
been able to get his hands on this one!

Odd -- I thought the marbled vinyl copies were supposed to the more common ones. I have two copies of the black vinyl.

Black vinyl originals are rare; check your price guide.

The 180 gram vinyl is cheap ($13) and excellent.

That's what I was going by (Goldmine). The weird thing is, though, that I've seen the black ones more often than the marbled vinyl.
I assume black vinyl + die-cut fold-out cover = original?
Nope- my copy, bought when it was first released, has the "barf" swirled vinyl and die cut cover. Great album! I think that Blue Thumb went to the non-die cut when it reverted to black vinyl due to complaints of self-hypnosis sustained by morons like me from watching the swirl record turn on their turntables for extended periods of time!

I just picked up a marble vinyl version of this LP last weekend. I remember seeing it in a local record store back when it came out and thinking it was cool but I never bought a copy. The copy I just bought is in pretty good shape but it's not easy to determine the surface condition under anything but the brightest light. Looks cool spinning on the turntable though. Now, I'm looking for a white vinyl version of the White Album on the Apple label. Anyone know where I can find one?

Yeah, I have a couple myself. I like to keep a sealed copy for some strange reason.:D

For looks, not for sound, right? Recent white vinyl is DMM, ugh.

But isn't the white vinyl virgin?
Yea Tom, I just want a copy because I think it's cool looking. I know most colored vinyl is nice to look at, bad to hear.
