Hi everybody, well Christmas is here and I still am finding time to fret about audio!

I just received a pair of Phillips 12AT7's and noticed that upon powerup, one side of the base burns brightly for a fraction of a second as the first surge of power is going through it. Then it calms down and everything is cool and sounding great.

Is this tube sick? Is it gonna die soon? Should I replace it?

What is happening with it?

Thank you and sleep well my friends.:edthumbs:

Normal for some input tubes, mainly ones from Europe. Try and ignore it. They both should do it though. Are they of the same age?

Thanx Steve for answering, and yes they are the same age. Came in their boxes. Now in a Jolida 302B ( I really like this amp - got Tele 12AX7's like you recommended and am using Svetlana's for EL34's - next up - Grover stuff!)

I just got paranoid about this.

Thanx again.
