I don't know a lot about this period...was there much stuff that was released as singles that are not on the albums?

    According to the link above:

It then goes on to say 30 songs are making their CD debut, though I'm not sure yet how many of those 30 were released on albums.

The question I have is will they use the original single mixes?

A great question, because I'm not sure that the edited single version of "I Can't Stop Loving You" has ever been on CD.

  6. Very underrated period in Ray's career - after the groundbreaking Atlantic years, fairly analogous to Sinatra's period on Reprise after the brilliance of the Capitol stuff - not as revolutionary, but still a lot of very solid stuff.

And some great tracks that I think have only appeared previously on comps. Just off the top of my head, "Brightest Smile In Town" and "I Don't Need No Doctor" are absolutely essential Charles.

Are you saying that this is going to be in the proper mono?

If so, I'll buy it but this is a trick that isn't going to come easily out of a hat..

I have no idea, but in other Ray Charles threads it's been made clear the mono mixes don't quite sparkle like the stereo mixes...

still I've got a mono vinyl best of with some of his early ABC singles that sounds quite nice so I hope to see it in mono..

I can't wait for this set, I didn't get influenced by very much in my parents collection growing up, but one thing that stuck out was a best of Ray Charles LP from the ABC period, so I'll be buying this for sure, like Steve I'd prefer to see it in mono.

Album cut, but probably never a single and it looks the CD was not widely available.

It'll be nice getting "The Train" without the record noise I'm used to..BTW,I'd had me a copy that had the earliest ABC Records logo, complete with the "Full Color Fidelity" Warped Rainbow-colored record in minature underneath the "abc" logo...Does anyone else remember this rare Labeled version of this Ray Charles 45?

That's the second label, not really a rarity. "Let's Go Get Stoned" b/w "The Train" was issued in mid-1966, at which time ABC-Paramount was transitioning to ABC Records. There are common copies of the 45 with either the ABC-Paramount label or the label you describe, both pictured below.

Is there any word on if they are going to the actual single masters for this release. I hope so. It would be a lot of work but well worth it.
