Steve, is this the player you use in your mastering work? With vibration platforms of some sort?

Yes. With Symposium platform and rollerblocks.

treat the optical surface with polishing fluid?
discharge / deguass CDs?

I have a Sony SCD-XA777ES SACD Player and I use a Dan Wright modded Perpetual Technologies P-3A DAC for Redbook CD's.

The XA777ES makes a killer transport and the PT DAC is just a little wider, deeper, and cleaner than the parallel DAC's in the XA777ES for Redbook.

On SACD though the XA777ES is a Monster!. Just awesome!
