OH YES! Mobile Fidelity (MFSL) did, in my opinion
a superb job with Supertramps Breakfast in America, and Crime of the Century I have both of these in my collection, and there they will stay.
Their probably in the mid-range of rarity among the MFSL catalog. If you can get your hands on either of these discs, you wont be disappointed.

The European remastered versions are pretty good. You can buy them online at Tower. I like them more than the gold versions personally

I was wondering about the recent Import remasters
out of the UK. I heard "Free as a Bird", but I didnt have anything to compare it to. From what I can remember theyre about 20 bucks a pop.
If theyre better than the MFSL's, Ill want to hear'em. Im getting the feeling with all the improvements in technology, itll only be a matter of time before the MFSL's will only have a "collectors" value. Im already seeing (and hearing)remasters that out perform the UDCDs.

Both the Supertramp titles on MFSL sound bad to me. I recommend that if you own those CDs, you find other versions to compare them to, as they sound positively dreadful and hurt my ears.

By the way, there is a new Supertramp cd coming out March 25th. It's called "Slow Motion" and is a follow up to the 1997 album "Some Things Never Change." See link below:

This is the same lineup as the '97 album and doesn't include Roger Hodgson. Overall, I enjoyed the last album and thought the sound quality to be extremely good (it was recorded in HDCD). I look forward to the new release.

You mean mastered in HDCD, don't you?

I have the MFSL's of both these titles and they sound rather dull and lifeless to me. I had Breakfast In America on vinyl back in the day but never had a great turntable so I really haven't compared them to anything.

Geeeez, Im gonna try out those remasters! The MFSLs sound great to me. Possibly my CD player? Im currently using the Rotel RCD991-AE with HDCD. Though the MFSLs aren't HDCD encoded, The 20 bit processor and the digital filters provided by the HDCD chip do a terrific job of enhancing my redbooks. Im hearing my CDs like Ive never heard'em

I would have to somewhat agree with TP with the MOFI versions. Even thought the sound was dramatically improved over the horrible standard cd release, I thought the sound from the MOFI versions of both Supertramps seemed somewhat flat with a little harshness. Maybe it was blasted harmonica on "Long Way Home"...
