Hi Kids!
After the last 3 weeks of migraines on Saturday's, I woke up this morning- no migraine, and decieded to head into Harvard Square in Cambridge Ma for some LP shopping.

After a #$%^& of a time finding a parking spot(finally just parked in a no parking zone), I didn't get out far enough to find any used LP shops( I think I gotta have a conversation with Jeff Partyka about sources), but ended up in the Newbury Comics, and Tower Records in the square, picked up the new ELP Brain Salad Surgery import from UK on Sanctuary(Mini LP Sleeve).

Ended up in Burlington Ma @ the Tower Records there, and made a big score! I found a DCC McCartney Band On the Run! Tower's price was $31- which I would have paid gladly- even though the cover sleeve had had some its edges turned to show some white. You could definitely tell it had been left on the shelf eother in a warehouse somewhere, or in the store. Evidently- they had probably re-wrapped it. I don't believe Tower would try selling a used CD as new.

Anyway- said to the kid at the counter- that the cove looked beat- and showed him some of the corners, and suggested to him it had been used or rewrapped, and asked if they could do better on the price(it hever hurts to ask- right?). I asked if maybe it would be worth $5 off the price(ya I was dreaming). He looks on the shelf- looks in the computer- then says to me $23.99! I couldn't get the money out FAST enough.

The only other DCC I saw today was Queen Night At The Opera- either @ Burlington or Woburn Newbury Comics(I honestly don't remember) $28.99

I went out this morning in search of the Rhino remaster of This Year's Model and found it for $13.99 at Circuit City. I checked to see if the copy of DCC's Best Of The Doobies was still there. Yes, it was. I think that same copy has been in their rack ever since the store opened a few years ago. It's starting to show a little wear lately as they keep shifting the CD's around to make more room for DVD's. That was the only DCC disc I found.

Also was pricing The Blasters Testament: The Complete Slash Recordings even though I'd already bought it from a mom and pop store for $31.95. It didn't seem to be in stock at Circuit City, but the nearby Best Buy had it for the astonishing price of $47.99! They must have pulled that price from out of the blue.

How is the Costello CD?
Tell me it's better than the Ryko and I'll go buy it tomorrow! Hell, I'll probably buy it anyway. Spike is high on my 'must buy' list.

Dan,
I purchased all the Ryko Costello remasters and was very pleased at the time. Since then, I have also purchased the 6 Rhino remasters as well. The sound may be a little bit better (hard to tell) but the unreleased extras on the Rhino make it worth the purchase.

Spike does sound significantly better than the original Warner Brothers release as does Brutal Youth. If you are a Costello fan, the Rhino's are definitely worth getting. I'm keeping the Ryko's as well as the Rhino's.

For all of you Massachusetts bargain hunters -- confession time: I saw a copy of the DCC Pet Sounds at the Borders in the Cambridgeside Galleria Mall here in Cambridge. Good luck!
