Well, we know who should've been able to remaster these classics, but it turns out that MFSL will be releasing MUSWELL HILLBILLIES as one of its first vinyl titles as an updated GAIN Anadisc. The electronics should be good, tubes from Tim de Paravicini, and Stan Ricker will be doing the cutting (I assume), let's wait and see if it's a good one. What will Humorem think? We'll be waiting for your informed opinion, Tom.

Forgot ta mention, this news comes in the latest installment of The Analog Corner in Stereophile. It also has a little blurb about the new "super" lathe at AcousTech Mastering that Steve and Kevin Gray have been using to cut the CCR re-issues coming up. It also has lotsa pictures of purty turntables for those of you into equipment porn.

Now that's the stuff. Not a bad title to release and something that I would consider buying. Let's hope it works out. I for one would like to see the successful rebirth of MFSL lps and cds (as well as DCC of course).

I have this little fantasy that both labels will have product out just in time for the Stereophile show in New York in May/June. I will stop by the booths and walk away with bags full of product and afraid to go home and let me wife see how much I spent.......

Well a man can dream can't he................

That's easy, KLM. Just walk into the house and tell her how much money you saved and how cheap it was compared to CD / LP stores. Then pull every one out, one by one and tell her about it.

In detail. Every buckle, zipper - no I mean every track, every person in the credits, etc.

Works the other way with her and shoes. Why not this way with you and records?

Try it!

"You go first" ;)

If he does, it will be a good opportunity to see if anyone has once again forced him to boost the top end against his will, or if by some strange series of unexplainable accidents and coincidences it just sorta ends up that way.

We shall see...

BTW: That's a good album, very natural guitar sound, an excellent test indeed! Can't wait. I'm sharpening my knives as we speak.

Tom, according to Michael Fremer's article in April's Stereophile, Stan Ricker won't be the only cutting tech working for MoFi. Paul Stubblebine will also be taking a whirl at the vinyl mastering console as well.:D

Metralla,
Thanks for the link. Based on his credits, Paul Stubblebine seems like a very capable person. I have several of his works and can attest to the quality of the sound. Looking forward to the MOFI's....
