To me this was a dreary time in pop music. I'll pass.

Styx and REO Speedwagon will be performing together in our town next week:eek: ! Ironic that they're both on this list from the past.

I think there are still some tickets left if anyone wants to see the show

Got 'em all covered. I love 80s pop music. And 70s, and 60s, and 50s. And 90s too.

P.S. Grant passes? I don't believe my eyes!

Agree that this is pretty mindless drivel except of course for "Rapture". I kind of like that song. It was certainly different and showed that Debbie Harry was prepared to try something off the beaten path.

I bought the "Autoamerican" remastered CD recently just to hear "Rapture" and "The Tide is High". It's not too bad, better sound than the original CD, and stronger because of the bonus tracks, "Call Me" (I would) and a 10min version of "Rapture" - mmm, can you say "disco"?

Metralla

Pretty sad!! The '80s were just horrible, with a few exceptions. It would be interesting to see the 10 top ten 10 or 15 years earlier.

Gah! I only know the hook to 6 of those 10 songs. Guess I was already losing it by '81... ;)

Yup. As far as the pop music world was concerned at that point in time, the music that was popular was pretty dismal, IMO.

Now, In the R&B world, the music I listened to at the time, things were heating up! We had just gotten out of the disco doldrums but many of the artists were blacklisted and the music labeled "disco" by many still. Hip-hop/rap was still a novelty.

Oh, the good stuff by the likes of The Gap Band, Cameo, Slave, Prince, The Whispers, Shalamar, Denice Williams, Tom, Browne, even Diana Ross!

And then technology took over...
