Found one in the trash today along with a Denon System and linear tracking turntable.

I'm betting it's a device that you can use to extend a remote control's range. Might be similar to the little cone-shaped RCA remote extenders where you could use your IR remote in one room, and it's broadcasted to a receiver located next to the audio components.
Linear tracking, huh? Hmmmm....

I think thats it after doing some surfing.
The turntable is a Bang and Olufsen Tangential OPP Tracking System Beogram TX 2

You remind me of the trash man in the Dilbert comic strip, who finds a brand new VCR...

Audiophile Dumpster Diving! :D
I used to find interesting stuff in the garbage area of the apt. building that I used to live in.
Nothing really good like Larry's hauls, though!

Aaaaah, I remember that one well. :)
I found Kenwood receiver face-down next to the neighbor's garbage. It's an older model (Dolby surround, but before the Pro Logic era), but it has 100w/ch and now resides up in the bedroom with a pair of Boston A120's and Dual turntable. :)

A small step up from "dumpster diving": I need to start hitting some of the thrift shops to see what I can find. :)

Keep looking. People at work would tell me stories about finding money on the tracks, I work for a railroad. They would find money a couple feet from me at times.
Well I never found too much there but walking my dog in my neighborhood I have found as much as $40.00 at one time letting my dog walk me.
My friend found an older Marantz solid state receiver on the curb in his neighborhood. Worked fine, ran a little hot but...
I do find old vinyl on the tracks from time to time, NFG as you might expect.
