How do the tracks on Jim Croce: The 50th Anniversary Collection stack up against the DCC versions?

TIA.

Well...

The one on Atlantic is Solid State.

The one on DCC is tube.

Both have their good points!

Steve,

I have the DCC vinyl of Jim Croce. What kind of shape are the masters in and any interesting stories about working with the mastering?

Hi Steve,

I think you're just being kind! Your version is great. I feel no need to compare it to any other.

In this case, they're both Steve's version.

Steve, have you talked to Jim's wife Ingrid about doing a high resolution reissue of these recordings? Seems to me that S & P or DCC could do a great job of putting these out on DVD-Audio and/or SACD! It would be a great way to commemorate his 60th birthday this year, too!:D

Wow Steve!

That's got to be the best solid state mastering I've ever heard! I mean it breaths for God sake!

Nice job.;)

Pinknik,

Well, thanks for letting me know this. I have been pleasantly surprised what Steve can do with solid state equipment. Take Steppenwolf on MCA for example. I really enjoy that one.

Ok, I was making a joke with the "steve will let you know in 20 years" comment because he asked about the "50th" anniversary collection. From who, Croce??? Ain't been fifty years by my count. Did they really name it that?

Actually, Sam, the "50th Anniversary Collection" was referring to Jim's 50th Birthday, which would have been in 1992, when the CD's came out!:p
