If I don't find a nice used V15 and decide to go with that particular model, I may simply go ahead and become a Shure dealer. If that happens, I'll beat any price you can find. Will keep you posted.

Jeff,

I just (today) recieved my Shure V15VxMR from Jacksmusicfactory.com in San Luis Obisbo for $199 delivered. There # is 805-544-8944.

Hope this helps,
paul

Seems like everywhere I've gone, it's $325.00.

Oops,

Prix must have posted just before I did.
He should have first dibs as a Shure dealer if that comes to pass.

That's insane. It's got to be factory seconds. Talk about a giveaway.

Thanks, Paul. I talked to the distributor today. I just have to tell them yes or no on Monday and place an order. You are a current Shure dealer, no?

We at NorthernLightFX get our Shure product through MBT Lighting and Sound.

Let us know. I just may be convinced to get the new xMR version (vs. my 20 year old original model). :)

Will do. Keep watching this thread. The only thing I won't do is sell to forum members in Oregon. Even though Shure has no territorial restrictions as far as I know, out of courtesy I'm not going to step on Paul's toes.

Is $325 suggested retail? I seem to recall Jamie paid that for his. And yet, I saw someone else in the forum in an earlier thread paid $229 for his.

I wish I could remember what my original V15V-HE cost me when I bought it back in 1982 or 1983.

Retail is $400.

Prix, et al..

Just to be clear-I am not a Shure dealor, or affiliated.
I merely passed along a source referred to me.
My cartridge says made by Shue in Mexico-does this sound legit??

As far as I know the Oregon Territory remains open.

Okay, I see now. I misunderstood. I thought you were a dealer, but I was obviously confused. HELLO OREGON TERRITORY!!!:D

I purchased my Shure a couple weeks ago from garagearecords.com for 236.00 including delivery and insurance. E-mail 'em and see if they are still offering that price. The cart is just breaking in and sounds wonderful on my mid-fi Thorens.

Paul cbc: yes. Shure has manufacturing facilities in Mexico. I believe all current V15's are made there.

Hope this is not stepping on any toes: I also bought from Jack's Music Factory--a few months ago. Same price $199. They are a popular place....for obvious reasons. Mine seemed to be factory sealed and sounds good.

You have to e-mail them for price confirmation. It is not automated so be patient till the store is open and they answer.

I suspect Shure could clear up any question of them being 'seconds': 800-25-SHURE.

I know prix won't want to divulge a dealer price, but maybe he can confirm if the $199 is feasible or not.

I don't care about divulging dealer price. I believe cost is about $175, so $199 is a fantastic deal if they are the real thing. If so, I'm sure these cats must have a bulk deal of some sort, but I'm always suspicious of things like this. Being in the audio sales industry, I've seen some serious hanky panky.

If you have an older V15 it is my assumption that you can upgrade it to the latest version merely by asking Shure for the $50.00 stylus exchange. Correct me if I'm wrong, but years ago I did that each time a new version of the stylus came out.

Richard, you mean upgrade the whole cart+stylus for $50?

No. But I put the xMR stylus into my V15 cartridge. It is my understanding that this is identical to a new cartridge. But recent upgrades to the cartridge since I did this may make a difference, I just don't know.

Richard.
