In my shop, most of the LP lovers wish any titles of Diana Krall and Rickie Lee Jones could be released on LP.

I wish their dream would come true.

I'd really like to see a remastered "Rickie Lee Jones" (debut album) on CD.

Yes! That one would be an excellent candidate for the 'breath of life' treatment. I just listened to this one 2 days ago for the 'umpteenth' time. Excellent debut! :D

That one, unfortunately, was only dedicated to vinyl. How does it sound anyone? Anyone out there got a CD needle drop?

I always used my Rickie Lee Jones LP as a demonstration record for my sound system. Unfortunately the standard release CD doesn't compare.

She is just one high dollar babe though. We are talking $100+ these days, for used goods. I did that for Neil's Harvest on Nautalus, just can't quite shell out for Ricky.

Understandable. How did the Harvest sound? It sure is in line for a workover. I've always loved that album but the CD never did it justice.

DVD-A is supposed to be in the works. Let's hope they've got it right this time!

It is good, but so are some early Reprise pressings, as reported to me by Port. Of course, I dig through my old stuff and find one of them stampers, in great shape.... i did not need to spend that money on the nautilus after all.

I had it (MFSL Rickie Lee Jones) and it was very dull and lifeless sounding. Very muddy in the midrange and highs.

I sold it and bought four different pressings of the WEA 180 gr. German release. These pressings had many flaws and lots of surface noise, but the sonics were great.

I picked the best tracks from the four pressings, made a 96 khz/24 bit master and hand cleaned it. It is now my refernce recording. It is awesome!

:D

Yeah Rickie Lee Jones Debut would be great on SACD

This was the record I did my first CD demos to my friends,
was one of my first an it isn't shabby at all.

In 1984 nobody of my friends hadn't heard anything like it.

I guess the master has still many potentials never discovered.

I even remember that there was a high frequecy distortion on
track 1 Cuck E's in love I think after 17 secs or something like that.

It must be very high I guess about 19kHz because I can't hear it anymore
since about 12 years.

I always asked myself If it was on the master tape or just onthe CD transfer.

Does anybody know the answer ??

Why is it that many artists first album turns out to be their best, never to be matched. The original Rickie Lee Jones album is a masterpiece from start to finish. The vocals are so fresh and the band she put together was unbelievable. I had a really old domestic vinyl version, which was a little noisy, but still good. I popped for the $30 import vinyl version and while it is a little better, I would have been happy with the domestic version except for the noise. The import is very very quiet. This is one album I don't cherry pick, I put it on and listen to the whole side. Why would anyone pay $100 for the MOFI when you can get a better import for $30. Only a music collector and not a music lover.
