I found a response posted on a message board at Phonoland (http://www.phonoland.com) that says the Z927 came out in 1969. The poster, listed only as "David", says:

Your zenith console is a 1969 credenza design french provincial styling. It is the Artisan series the name of the model that you have is called The Ravel. Underneath the turntable, there is a tag or stamped number that begins with 169- and three numbers that follow. that is the model number.

I'm still going through the messages. This sounds similar to the old stereo my parents had.

Michael, you might want to ask over at the rec.antiques.radio+phono (http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&safe=off&group=rec.antiques.radio%2Bphono) newsgroup. There's a bunch of people there with a good deal of knowledge on older audio gear.

Best of luck
