About 8 or 10 years ago, through a good advertising trade deal, I came upon a few good pieces of audio equipment, including a couple of CD players. The first was a Denon DCD-2560, which I really liked, and which became my primary CD player, and still is. I'd forgotten about some of the other stuff until I recently unearthed a couple of boxes, during one of my wife's clean out the downstairs phases. One of them is a Carver CD player that looks intriguing. It's a SD/A-490t Vacuum Tube Reference CD player. Right at this time I don't feel like rearranging my system, so I just thought I'd ask if anyone knows anything about this piece of equipment. I know this sounds a little silly, but I'm not really what you would call an audiophile, just someone who really appreciates great sounding music. Interested to hear any opinions.

With a vacuum tube analog output stage perhaps you should plug it in and see what it sounds like. Especially if the rest of your system is solid state! Could warm up the sound somewhat.
The 390t went for $750.00 on eBay recently.

As for sound quality, sorry, I've never heard any of them.
Have fun playing with it! :)
IMHO Jefhart hook up the Carver and I'll bet dollars to doughnuts you'll be tossing that Denon out with yesterdays news.:D

I agree. I had one that I bought new about 8 or 9 years ago, and got a bug up my a$$ to get rid of stuff I wasn't using. It was one of the best CDPs I've ever heard.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'll probably give it a try this weekend.
Jeff
Please let us know the results of your experiment, OK? Guess I'm the curious type! :)
Re: Gary's last post.
Please post as I'm curious as well.
