I'm curious, what would that amp go for new 40 years ago?

Hi Joe,

The 240 retailed for approximately $300 in the 60's. Adjust for inflation and it would be about $1,500 today.

Thanks, Jeff. For what it's going for, I guess it was a good investment.

Hi Joe,

A great investment, indeed! I wish i was lucky enuf to buy such a great piece of gear and have the pleasure of using it for 40 years and still be able to sell it for more than i paid for it after adjusting for inflation. Sounds like an audiophile dream come true...... have a great stereo that ends up not costing ya anything! :)

Of course, that's contingent on actually selling the thing later. ;)

Even with non-"classic" gear, Macs do OK. I had a Mac MA6100 integrated amp for 14 years and sold it for exactly what I paid for it new. Cost of ownership: $0.
