I just realized the Peter Criss' 2 solo CD's are OOP and are going for big $$ now. I guess these 2 CD's and probably the Neil Young Complex Sessions CD are my rarest ones. What are yours?

MFSL version of Al Stewart's "Year Of The Cat" which I paid $13 for when the regular one was $12 about 15 years or more ago.

Also I bought a copy of the DCC Sampler at a used record shop for $10 about 6 years ago. I almost didn't buy it, since it had so few songs, but they had nothing else I wanted so I figured I had nothing to lose. I also thought the cover and concept was clever.

The actual CDs on Renaissance I have are among the rarest or most collectible in other stances I have are: Charly McClain-Anthology and Razzy Bailey-Anthology. I ended up paying $20 for Ronnie Milsap's Christmas album on CD at his concert tonight as it is now very hard to find. The Peter, Paul & Mary Reader's Digest collection which does contain 4 CDs including a CD of the "best of" their solo recordings including "The Wedding Song" and others.

Probably my Japanese ELO CD's of Out Of The Blue and A New World Record. These are the first issues from 1985.

One of those things you get lucky with finding by being in the right place at the right time.

Japanese pressing of Abbey Road
Special book edition of Amnesiac by Radiohead (one of the coolest packages I've ever seen)

Semi-rare, but the Tijuana Brass album CDs fetch big bucks on eBay. Some came and went rather quickly (South Of The Border, Volume 2, Beat Of The Brass and What Now My Love), and are just about impossible to find.

Does a Toshiba "Abbey Road" qualify as rare?

I have the Sony Gold CD of Chicago Transit Authority - it's somewhat hard to come by (because of Sony losing their rights to Chicago), right? Between it and the Roger Waters disc (which I don't have), I think they might be the rarest of the Sony Gold CD's.

My Two Gems:

"Sunrise" - Bob Brozman, Debashish Bhattacharya

Out of print, and most of the copies that were released were defective, tracks one and two either glitching badly or not playing at all depending on the player.

Two fantastic slide guitarists, playing fantastic music. When it was still available several years ago I managed to get a non-defective plays-just-fine-all-the-way-through copy.

When my house is on fire, this is the first CD that gets rescued.

FWIW, they just released a second CD, "Mahima", which is also wonderful. Highly recommended.

------

"Parables That Jesus Told" - David Lindley, Garrison Keillor

Garrison Keillor telling the stories, while David Lindley plays what he himself called "the most beautiful music I ever played". Recorded for the Rabbit Ears label, supposedly never released. But cassette copies were in fact released (legally), and I have one of them, which I immediately transferred to CD.

I have that...didn't know it was rare, though! It's definitely the coolest CD package I own.

Rarest, perhaps, is the Elton John GBYBR CSR 2-disc pressing...sounds scrumptious!

Paul McCartney's My Brave Face US CD EP. It contains 4 cuts, 2 from the "Russian" album. I have it with the original sticker. It was only availalable for a very short time. Mine is opened but mint. Sealed copies go for upwards of $150.

I have a few, but the only one I can think of at the moment is the MFSL of The Wall which seems to be a hated disc here on the boards. I like it myself, but it's all a matter of opinion.

That was on a CD?? How did I miss it??? My buddy the IRS Records collector probably doesn't even know about this one. Now...can we ever get the film itself on DVD?
