View Full Version : I need some advice on buying a new "CD" player

My trusty Sony 5 disc changer is finally on its last legs and currently I'm looking for a new CD player. What one unit could I get that will accomodate all of my future needs (CD, SACD, DVD-A, etc.) or does an all-in-one unit even exist? I want to be able to play my regular CDs, SACDs (which I still have not had the pleasure of hearing!) and DVD-A 5:1 discs. I plan on keeping my "traditional" stereo, but in the near future I am going to take the plunge and buy a new surround sound system for another room in my house. So I guess the question is this - do I need a separate SACD player and a separate DVD/DVD-A player to accomplish this? I'm not made of money so I'm looking for something at a reasonable price and something I can at least play CDs and SACDs until I can afford the full surround system. I'm putting my faith in your hands... :righton:

Thanks

Hi Paul,

Do a Search here on this site about the many discussions that have taken place about the Pioneer 563 A - seems to be the entry-level model you're looking for.

Good luck,

Mike

The Pioneer isn't a bad player, you should definitely give it a listen and a view.

It's the only "economy" option availabe right now. I've not heard it but you can't beat the price!
