View Full Version : Weird request - Good CD player for nursery?

My wife is due to deliver around Thanksgiving. The nursery is ready to go ... except for one thing: a CD player for both parents and baby would be good for those inevitable long nights. Something small, unobtrusive and something that the baby can grow into would be good. It doesn't have to be audiophile quality.
Do they make anything like Baby's First CD Player?

Greg, I have one of those Timex cubes that also has a clock where you can adjust the brightness in out bedroom. It's small and not that expensive. Also has a headphone jack too.

You could buy a mini-system. Denon and Yamaha make some for around $AU 600 ($US 350).
They are both a one box unit. The denon has a tuner, but not sure about the yamaha. The yamaha can be mounted on a wall.

Simple $30 "Discman" type of player. Cambridge "PC WORKS" speakers, $35.
Hint: Atlantic made CDs on the "Enviornments" label, and the first disc is 60 minutes of ocean sounds. You play it at a "din" level and hit "repeat".
Well, it makes me sleep very well. Especially at times when it's hard to sleep. :)

My suggestion would be a cd player that you can also play mp3s. That way, you can have a bunch of stuff on the disc -- ocean waves, rain forest, raffi, etc. -- that will always be on hand. Some babies just like sound and don't like radio announcers who like the sound of their own voice. I know one baby who has a www.slimp3.com in their room. Jeff

I bought a Teac CD/Radio from Red Trumpet. My son likes the teal color. The sound is decent and a bit warm. Great for those ever shrill CDs.

Hi,
There's probably a good reason that I never became a parent but with soft music would a couple of thase butt shakers attached to the crib massage the baby to sleep.

For what it's worth, while the mother is pregnant, the theory is that the music of Beethoven and Mozart should be played for the child.
