What are the differences between the single mix and the common LP mix of this song by Jim Croce?
Also, on which CD(s) can I find the single mix?

Grant, It's available as a bonus track on the DCC gold CD "Words & Music" Remastered by Steve!

Yeah it would be the only DCC disc i've never seen.
What are the differences in the mixes, though?
Grant,
I've seen that one on ye'ol' ebay quite a few times and usually you don' t get the bend over too badly, say around $20.00;)
Words and Music is listed in the Music Direct 2002 catalog supplement that just came in the mail this past Friday for $14.99. Maybe they've still got some copies left. Try Music Direct web site (
http://www.amusicdirect.com) or (800) 449-8333.

But can anyone tell me what the differences are between the LP mix and the 45 mix? Steve?

Hey Grant,
I don't have it with me, but as I remember it's a drier sound than the lp mix. Sounds more intimate to me. I like it.

Sorry, Grant. Have not heard it for a while, but it is mono, has the background singers pretty dry, and the acoustic guitars and drums are a bit louder.
I love that song, and I felt that the "hit" radio version needed a place on compact disc.
On Jim Croce "Words And Music" (DCC Gold CD), there is also a neat "demo" version of "Hey Tomorrow", recorded at The Hit Factory with just Jim and his guitar.
I always liked Croce's music. There is a version of "Operator" with a string section that I would like to get released one of these days...:)

Grant, I have Words and Music on DCC Gold and highly recommend it. :)
There are a couple on "ye' ol' bay" now... Do a search on "DCC Jim Croce" There's one with a buy it now option. That may be the best bet in the long run.
The price is very low on this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1504985061 but it does still have a few days to go... The bidding can go insane on these. :(
(Zoo, is it OK to post links to e-bay?)

Hey Grant,
I HIGHLY recommend DCCs Croce Gold CDs!
I've been a Croce fan since the mid seventies and still listen to him a lot.
I got 2 Gold CDs from DCC last year and love them! Man, for the quality of mastering, Gold and the price......it's a no brainer for Croce fans. Steve puts a lot of care into his work, and it shows.
Best
Mark
