Is it the end for the cd player? what with all the new SACDs titles appearing
all the time. Do you really require a sacd player? is the sacd sound
that the superior?
Perhaps it will be possible in the future to put a sacd chip into your cd
player!!!!!!

If I think it is the end for the cd player what with all the sacd titles out, do I vote for 'vb code is on' or 'img code is on'? These options have me a bit confused.

I am used to stereo I prefer that sonic landscape. sacd is just a improved
sounding cd but to really hear its true potential you have to have a sacd
player to get better a result.
Excuse me for not defining my self earlier (hence the slow thread)
The big daddy when they sort the right speaker levels it out is going to be

Thanks Night Gort
Regarding Pet Sounds dvd-a 5. 1 sound which I have IMHO is a fantastic deal the bad news it does not have true 5.1. as the central speaker is not active. The good news is you get the old mono mix, the stereo from the box set, and I suppose you can call it a quad mix(5.1) also video clips, plus more .....how is the standard cd format going to compete with that for value for money?
alexpop
thanks again to all gorts!
P.S. I still prefer my gold dcc "Bookends" ultimatley its all in the mastering.

Um, I think you mean the MFSL gold Bookends, don't you? However the DCC Pet Sounds is incredible IMHO.

I voted for "vb code is on" since I don't have an SACD player yet.
Finally a poll that makes sense! I voted for "vb code is on". Don't ask me why.

Thanks again Night Gort for the correction "Bookends" DCC not MFSL.
If only either label had put out "Bridge over trouble water"
I do not have the DCC Pet sounds maybe one day.
I have DCC Highway 61 remastered by Steve Hoffman its the best Bob
Dylan cd in my collection IMHO.
To expand a bit on the dvd-a format where it really works is on live stuff.
audience particaption, atmospherics. Frank Zappas "Halloween" is a very
good example, great panned fz gtr solo. IMHO
On traditional Gold cd format, a dream wish is for Steve Hoffman to
ressurect DCC and remaster all the Beatles back catalogue well he did
Macca.
(the poll is now 50/50
is it David or Goliath?)
thee cup is half full not half empty.
How about if BOTH codes are on?
Would that hurt the chances of either medium?:)

The Mastersound gold CD version of Bridge Over Troubled Water is very good IMHO. Well worth seeking out.
I agree that Steve's is the best Bob Dylan Highway 61 Revisted so far.
Don't we all wish for Steve to do the Beatles and finish off the McCartney catalog. As long as he's at it, the Lennon and Harrison catalogs could desperately use his attention. ;)

I have The Mastersound Gold "BOTW" Arts voice is a tad shrill on title cut IMHO.
Regarding Steve & The Silver Beatles and the rest of their solo projects,
I am thumbs aloft Macca on that one.
London Town,Flaming Pie, All things must pass,Shaved Fish..spring to mind.
I was disappointed with the new "All Things Must Pass" and surprised
that George would have prefered it stripped of all its Wall of Sound.

I just managed to get Joni Mitchell DCC GOLD BLUE on ebay for 50 Euro I think that's about 60 u.s. dollars for a used copy is that a good price for this version?
DCC Titles are so rare in Europe you guys don't know how lucky you are in the U.S.A.
I would appreciate if any one knows where to get these other DCC titles
Elvis 24k hits, Everly brothers hits, Pet Sounds.
thanks,

Its still 50/50 on the voting..................and over on the red corner we have..
could be a winner.
Do we have to sell all our old cd players in ebay to buy a new Sony,
pioneer etc.............Or do we hang on to thee olde Rega Planet 2000 etc..?
is it a yay..... for the trusty cd player, or a yay for a home
cinema combo deal that does everything except make you a cup of tea
Utimatley we are taking HI-FI.
The question is are these SACDs the titles that are out (and more is on the way)
are the mastered the same way as the DCC titles for example a week
spent on getting the drums sound right, vocals etc.
Or are they a "Wham bam thank you mam"(great Small Faces song) just
simply factory formatted ie: like a standard cd.
