Okay, so not RECENTLY, but I was once given what was described as a "WW II vintage radio" that had a bunch of tubes installed. Unfortunately, the radio itself was a total loss as mice had nested therein. At the time, I grabbed the tubes out of the chassis and put them in a bag in an attic somewhere and forgot about them. Now, after being a member of this board, I'm wondering whether it would be worth my time to retrieve, clean, and test them. I really don't know anything about tubes at all, even whether tubes of this vintage and origin would be of any use in audio applications now.
Anyway, any advice would be much appreciated.

Might not be anything special, but what tube types are they? Any markings on the tube?
1st don't touch the lettering on them - it will come off on your finger and then it will be hard to identify what it is.
2nd - send them to me so you don't have to think about them anymore.
or check ebay for the number to see if they are valuable.
There are also vintage tube sites - yet ebay is pretty easy.
search ideas 12ax7 or GE or RCA
Then try to figure out based on the pictures and description which version you have.
They probably are good. Unless they have white powder on the inside (no vacuum)
Find someone on the board that lives near you that has a tube tester and then get them tested. You could mail them to me to test, yet that is a lot of transit and cost unless they are really worth something. If they are really valuable you could have someone with a B&K Tester test them for more than I can test them for with my Heathkit (it works like the ones in the stores in the 60's good (green) and percent good 70%.)
Cool!

I don't have them in front of me (nor, indeed, nearby), so I would have to go get them (in Brewster, actually). Eventually I have to get down there to retrieve some furniture, and I was planning on grabbing them anyhow, but I was just wondering if anyone had any general thoughts.
