I had yet to listen to this CD since I bought and had it brought up to specs a tube Stereo (Dynaco SCA-35). It sounds very clear & crisp. Who says CD's can't sound good.

P.S. I checked my CD's inner ring it reads: MCAD 5540 - S501

Made in Japan

Is this the first pressing of the CD?

Also, I ramble on…

I think I did buy it in '85. I got my first CD player in April 1985. There wasn't a big selection of CD's to choose from back then. I remember seeing RCA Bowies and Queen CD's that eventually went out of print.

Should be one of the first pressings. MCA chose which plants to spread the work across. For instance, a lot of the early Tom Petty Cds were Japan, some James Gang were done from PDO in Germany, and the Whos Next Cds were usually Japanese, or US, either Sanyo or RCA. Depends on year and when MCA chose to switch manufacturing gears. If your's mentions Our Hero in the liner notes, it's possibly going to be exactly like the US makes.

But anything older sounds absolutely wonderful on tubes. If you find something (usually Jazz) that was made before 1961, something proficiantly recorded, you'll gain a whole new respect on how musical the tubes become.

I believe his name is printed on the actual CD.

I don't have it with me at the moment.
