I just picked up a new system today and was wondering what you all think about this stuff. I was thinking of replacing my B&K ST140 with the Mac MC 2105 and if you all think it is a good table, using the B&O turntable.

McIntosh MX 113 - Tuner pre amp (better than C26, C28?)
McIntosh MC 2105 - Amp
Bang and Olufsen Beogram 4002 - linear tracking truntable B&O 6000 cart.
(better than Thorens TD124, Technics 10, Dual 731?)
Pioneer RT-1050 - 10" reel to reel (is this a professional model?)
Phase Linear 400 model 1000 - Dynamic Range Recovery System
(What does this guy do?)
ESS AMT 1A speakers with Heil Air motion Transformer & 12" woofer + passive radiator (anyone else like ESS stuff?)

Thanks for the help.

I almost bought one of these extremely sexy linear trackers back in the late '70s, but on audtioning it against a TD160, the Thorens shone. By a long way.

It's a difficulty comparison to do, since the B&O only takes the factory cartridges. The TD124 is possibly a better sounding table than the TD160, though I was never that rapt in them - preferred the TD160.

Cute machine though.

Geoff

Is that MX113 tubes? If so, keep it!

The MX 113 is not tubes - I wish it was.
I think it is like a C26 or C28 with a tuner built in.

I am wondering if anyone besides Geoff has done any listening tests to this stuff or has opinions on the sonic qualities.

I wonder if the MX-113 tuner would sound any better than the Pioneer TX-9100 I am using now?

I think I will keep the C20 in the system and possibly try the Mac Amp or the Mitsubishi amp to compare to the ESS amp (500A) and the B&K St140 amp.

I have another post with some other new stuff like Braun speakers. I hope to try them today. I always like ADS speakers (same as Braun).

Clay,

I've never heard any of that stuff, sorry.

I hope you'll take the time to listen to all sorts of combinations, settle on what you like best and sell the rest!

You're in a pretty good position, Clay! Enjoy!
