I just want to say that I very recently saw a LIVE (that would be real musicians playing acoustic instruments on a stage with no amplification) performance of Ms. Lisitsa playing Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto #1 with The San Antonio Symphony Orchestra.
I must confess that this piece is not entirely my musical cup of tea, yet the level of artistry displayed by this incredible musician was utterly stunning ( and I, for one, am not easily impressed).
It would be fair to say I walked into the auditorium with one set of ideas and as some kind of person, and walked out completely different. It was an amazing performance that was perfection in every regard, but with particular emphasis on her total, effortless command over the instrument.
She displayed a remarkable sensitivity to the musical values and her touch and tone in the slow, moving passages must be remarked on also.
I am writing this so if you are a music lover, you will not be disappointed and should go out of your way to hear her play. I know that I will...
Her touring schedule is posted on her website www.valentinalisitsa.com.
You will be hearing more about this wonderful artist in the future, I feel sure.
She received a well-deserved standing ovation and spontaneous outpouring of warmth in our little corner of the universe.
