I was wondering about getting a moving coil cartridge.if so is there a break-in period for them and if so how long?

Yes, you have to break it in. My Dynavector took about 50 to 75 hours to bloom and really sound its best. Other cartridges might not take that long ...

My Sumiko Blue Point sounds really bright on my NAD preamp so you also have to consider that some phono preamps do better with high output MC's than others.
Nothing quite like the 3-d ness that MC provides. All the frequencies travel at the same speed, unlike the MMagnet carts. Time error flattens the soundstage.

Thomz, I'm ALSO running a sumiko Blue Point into a NAD preamp.
I really like this combination, it sounds really alive to me.
Which NAD do you have?

Boy, I don't know. I had a NAD 1020 and a BP for awhile and I thought the bluepoint always sounded more spitty like early CD players yuck! And yes, this was an early model. Also the BP didi'nt las too long before I had to replace it!
