Bob Irwin Does SACD [Archive]

The new Carole King "Tapestry" Multichannel/Stereo SACD is now in stock for $16.99 at Fry's in Sunnyvale.

Interestingly, the Stereo SACD mix on this disc is produced by Bob Irwin. So one wonders whether it differs from the original Stereo SACD.

The 5.1 Multichannel SACD mix is by Paul Kingberg, the person who did the 5.1 Multichannel mix on the Earth, Wind & Fire "Gratitude" SACD.

I have the Original SACD mastered by Vic Anesini and it sounds great. Very clean and full with her vocals sounding sooo much better than the original.

This one also gives Vic Anesini the mastering credits on the Stereo SACD version. Which makes me wonder if the stereo SACD tracks are the same.

There will soon be one. Sony is phasing out the original Stereo only SACD version of Tapestry in favor of the new Multichannel/Stereo SACD which will be in stores tomorrow.

I would be very surprised if the stereo program was changed at all. Easy enough to get credits wrong though. Definitely Sony credited Vic Anesini for Blonde On Blonde when it was really Michael Brauer's work.

It could very well be a matter of who the executive producer is, who the producer is, who the mastering engineer is, who the mixing engineer is, who the product coordinator is, blah blah blah. In other words, probably lots of hands involved in getting the work done and the credits may not reflect the situation exactly.
