I was amazed at the level of midrange detail they could generate. Considering I can get them for $600 (with 13 months to pay for them!) and that I'm on the lookout for a new pair of speakers, I was wondering if anyone could give an opinion about them.

I'll listen exclusively to music on them (no HT), and plan to add a couple of 12" DIY subwoofers later on (since they'll be used on a big, open space).

So far, I've compared them to similarly priced KEFs, Definitive Technologys, and Energys. No contest here - the B&Ws have beaten them all without much trouble. I love, as I said before, the midrange - it sounds sweet, very detailed and open. Bass is powerful, and treble is quick and smooth.

Any opinions about them?

Thanks!

Javier.

I have 2 pair of the 301's and like them.
The 301 is the little 6" woofer job.
They sound very good when hooked up to tubes also.
In my sons room the 301's with a monitor audio sub put out great sound.
I use them for the TV sound and for movies in the den.
The make great speakers and have a good following as you can tell from the ebay sells.

I have a pair of DM604s. I like them quite a bit. Like you say, nice mids

I used to have the DM602 S2. I thought they were a nice speaker, but found them to be very fatiguing. That's just me though.

Thanks all for your answers; Mike, it's nice to see that, after a 15 minute listening session, apparently I did find out what was the speaker strength (the mids) :)

That's interesting, Prix. Did you use them with your tube equipment? What were you using for electronics? What did you get instead - the Tannoys?
