Guys, my Audio Technica AT 440ML stylus just broke.
Rather than spend 70 bucks for a new stylus, i'm thinking of just replacing the cartridge.
The turntable this is going into is an old Garrard, used ONLY for dubbing 45s to CD.....I have a seperate, high end Rotel for the serious LP stuff.
SO....I thought some of you might know of an exceptionally good value in lower end carts.
I'm all ears, and thanks for your suggestions.

Depending on how much you wanna spend...but you can never go wrong with a Grado. The Black is usually around $40.00

I second the Grado Black recommendation. I just bought and installed one of these for my sister recently (I paid $35), and it was surprisingly good for the money. I think that would be plenty good for your purpose.
How about what ever they include with the MMF2?

Here's another vote for Grado. Buy the most expensive one you can afford. I'm a Grado man.

I'm wondering why my post in this thread was deleted.
Anyway, I suggested Grado.
Yes, the Grado Black is a very good low-cost cartridge.
You are certain it was in this thread?

You can't go wrong buying a Grado. Joseph Grado is the man who patented the stereo moving coil cartridge.

Guys, thanks for all your help.
What I ended up doing was buying a NEW, unused AT Z-100 on Ebay for all of 20 bucks!! I couldnt pass up that deal, its brand new. And for a TT thats only gonna play 45s, i think it will do fine.
I'm interested in what you guys think of the Z-100, both good and bad.

Well, I've never heard of that AT model, but I guess you could do worse!
At $20, you don't have a whole lot of downside.
If you see a Grado for $20 on ebay later you could always try that, too.
Maybe Listener or somebody would be interested in a survey of $20 cartridges bought on ebay. I'd be kind of interested in what a $20 cartridge sounds like. Why don't you let us know when you get it?
If you had (5) $20 cartridges you could be like the guy who, when he starting dating, got a "10" the hard way - five "2" s.
(Sorry)

Well, I bought it because I've read that the z-100 was the forerunner of the 440 ML, which I had and which sounded pretty amazing untill the needle broke on me during a TT repair.
So i guess we will see!!
