I'm not sure if this has been covered before......
Is this Love reissue worth the price of admission?
Was this CD mastered by Bill Inglot?

Funny to see this post. I received mine yesterday. Yes it is worth the price of admission. The disc was mastered by Andrew Sandoval & Dan Hersch at Digiprep, Los Angeles. Sound was produced by Bill Inglot. It comes with a nice booklet w/ notes & some nice pictures of labels and picture sleeves. Bought mine from Disc Collectors, $15.99 plus postage. Not bad by all means.... Hope this helps....

All the original eq, fades and compression notes were ignored on that remastering.
There is a nice interview with Bob Irwin at Sundazed in last month's Stereophile
and he discusses with Michael Fremer how the Sundazed vinyl was
carefully mastered to the producer's original specifications and
sounds markedly different than the Rhino cd.
I also thought that there was entirely too much top end on the cd this go 'round.
You can hear excessive dirt as a result and all the warmth is gone. This cd
should sound a lot like the first Doors lp, same producer, engineer and
some of the same equipment was used, but the cd is deliberately bright
to compete in today's marketplace.
Here's a REAL condemnation of that disc: even my 80's vintage Elektra
on black/red label, which has no bass, whips the Rhino cd.

I think he's talking about the Love S/T reissue.
And heck, I don't care if they ignored the fade-notes...I think the current Rhino F/C sounds fine, with the Love Story version being ever-slightly more pleasing. Dunno.
But the Love S/T remaster sounds absolutely *great*...wonderful quality.
