I was just wondering if anyone remembered the Sony VFET amps from the 70's. They were top of the line, very expensive and were to sound like valves. They did not produce for long due to the high cost of manufacture. I just picked up a Sony VFET TAN 8550 power amp, yet it is out in one channel. I remember these were great amps in their time.
I was wondering if it would be worth fixing. It could cost $100 or more to repair I imagine. I checked and it did not have fuses in it so I added 2 and only 1 channel came to life.
Here is a copy of an ad for a integrated VFET amp version.
