With all these posts of walking into record shops and never knowing what might be waiting to be found I thought I'd post my lucky find. Last night on my way home from a job I stopped at a record store (the same one where I found the $5 UHQR "Tea for the Tillerman") in search of the Sundazed "Forever Changes" and mono "Freewheelin'. My local shop got their new shipment in but Sundazed was out of stock of these 2 titles (a few weeks delay). So, I stopped by this shop that usually has the Sundazed stuff but their order was missing the two titles also. So, I thought I'd just skim through some of their bins and sitting in the Doors section was a sealed DCC "LA Woman" for retail price. I was really excited because I sat on the fence too long with that title and (for me at least) it's been really difficult to track down for non-high roller prices. So, I happily went home with my new purchase and enjoyed a great album last night...

Perhaps you could share the location of your local shop? That would be a nice thing to do.

I believe in sharing information (except government secrets)...

Subterranean Records
5 Cornelia St (off of 4th street and 6th Ave, near A/F Train)

They had a few other DCC vinyl titles (that I have already).

Strange Days (sealed) $29
Pet Sounds (I think it was sealed) $39

I hope this helps...

How lucky you are!!

Sckott is on the mark.

My luckiest find was a finding an original issue of Dave Brubeck "Time Further Out" in excellent condition at a bookstore on DuPont Circle in Washington, DC for $4.00. When I forked over the cash, the guy behind me in line at the counter said to me "You listen to records? Don't you know that CeeDees are better?" The cashier, a college student said "We have the CeeDee used for $6.00. I would get that instead. CeeDees are so much more user friendly." My wife just looked at them and smiled.

I think keeping your eyes open is key and asking questions. Several months ago I was in a used bookshop and grabbed some plays to read and on a whim I asked the guy if he sold any records. He said he had some in the back. I found a nm 6-eye stereo 'Time Out' and a VG-NM mono 'Harry Belefonte at Carnagie Hall'. The total for both records was $3 ($1 per record). they were dusty but after a good clean with Disc Doctor they sound superb...

Martinimaster,

One thing I suggest when going to that store, just be low key about things or else they'll start driving up the prices and start researching every little 'Sing Along with Mitch' album. Ya know what I mean. Also, I asked them if they had anymore DCC titles and they said that's that. I was very low, low key about that. Just keep checking in there time to time and sometimes you might find a goodie...

P.S. I stopped by another shop on my way to meet my father for dinner and found a Sundazed 'Forever Changes' (I've encountered some delays getting that record/Sundazed is printing more)...
