Can you explain me, how many copies were pressed with the first stamper???

Most of my DCC LPs are numbered between # 70 and 150. It reminds me to some of my RCA's... sound different between A1 or B6 pressings.

Claus, I don't know. 500 I believe. But, the numbering of the cover has nothing to do with the pressing. In other words, the 26th pressing off the machine could be LP jacket number 2003. (At least I think that's how it worked.)

Are you saying that you can hear a difference between an early and late DCC LP of a certain title? I doubt it. Pretty strict control over at RTI in those days.

Steve are you saying that the covers are number stamped completely seperate from the discs? Meaning cover 0010 is most likely not the tenth disc pressed in that run or if it is it's totally coincidental. If so is this also true for the MoFi discs? There is always a premium on the lower numbers. Doh! (Slaps himself on the forehead)

Actually, I don't really know. I've never been able to tell by looking at, or playing the disc. They all sound fine to me. Sorry.

Don't panic. You could be right and me wrong. I have a complete set of #2's but I've never opened them....;)

Nah, I just have other copies to play of some of them.

Don't you want to know who has the set marked #1?

Has QC gone down since then? And since you mentioned it, who has the #1s?

Steve... I couldn't hear any differences between various copies, but I have never purchased more than one copy.

Anyway I'm happy I got all vinyls from DCC... incl. the wonderful classical stuff from Everest.

I can't wait to hear my favorite CCR (Cosmo) from AP.

Steve... I can't believe there is no audible difference between the first and the last stamper at RTI!!!
I think it has nothing to do with the control... the same if you copy a tape... and a copy from the copy... you always will lose information.

I just assumed it was Marshall. After all it was his sandbox. Am I right?
Or, did Tom mesmerize you and make you give them up before they left the stamper?

Claus,
I'm no record expert, but stamping out LPs is not at all comparable to your example of making dubs of dubs of dubs of tapes.

At least if I'm reading your premise right. If I'm not, sorry.

Yes, Marshall of course!:)
