Not sure if this is the correct forum or not, but I am hoping to find out some opinions on video editing software (MAC) and dvd recorders.
Perhaps a link to an old thread??
Thanks for any help I can get!!

Can't speak for the Mac, but I have the firewire-based Canopus ADVC-100. Great piece, and it's under $300. Match a good piece of SW to it.
The ADVC-100 has audio sync so you will never have out of sync video/audio.

On a Mac, Final Cut Pro is the video-editing software of choice. I believe that Adobe conceded that they had no market for the Mac as far as video-editing solutions went (read: FCP was kicking their butt in sales all over) and officially stopped development of Premiere for the Mac with version 6.5. As StyxCollector mentions, Canopus video cards are the cat's pajamas, and are available for the Mac.
