Just got a free Crown

My boss just gave me a Crown IC 150. After googling usenet, I get the feeling that audiophiles don't really like this one... is it as sterile as some people say?

I don't have an amp, so I can't use it right now. Wondering if I should bother buying an amp, or should I just save my pennies.

Any comments?

I have the IC-150A, which I've never used, and will eventually sell. Is this considered any different?
