I remember some great musical moments on this great variety show from the 60's. The Who performing live and an unexpected walk on by George Harrison for example. There were many more. Can anyone state more great moments from this show?

The Beatles performing "Hey Jude" and "Revolution." And, some really tasty John Hartford stuff.

I remember it was during his solo L.A. visit. I was trying to remember that date to look up the episode as you were posting. I'll let you know.

As Stephen Stills sings the line "....there's a man with a gun over there" from "For What Its Worth" on Buffalo Springfields' appearance on the show, the camera pans off stage to show Tommy Smothers dressed as a gunslinger pointing a pistol at the camera. An unexpected moment to a serious song!

Lotsa great moments! Janis Ian doing "Society's Child;" The Byrds miming to "Mr. Spaceman" and "Goin' Back" (with Gene Clark...back for his two week stint); a conceptual montage during the Hollies "Dear Eloise;" Dion doing "Abraham, Martin & John" with a small choir during the musician's strike; and of course Pete Seeger doing "Waist Deep In The Big Muddy."
Now, let 's get this AND "Playboy After Dark" on DVD. The latter having some truly great musical moments too!

DOn't forget Fr. Guido Sarduci! The Smothers Brothers actually had another variety show in the late 1970's which for the most part was better than the original show. IIRC correctly, the series went into a writing slump in the middle, then lost its viewers. However, the series revitalized itself, but by that time it was too late.

I seem to remember seeing The Blues Magoos playing I believe, "(We Ain't Got) Nothin' Yet" on the show.
