Are there are fans of Loudon's here? I own none of his work (apart from a 45 of "Dead Skunk") but I'm always interested in getting to know the work of good songwriters, and would like to know if there's a particular album or two I should start with.
I'm not looking primarily for pressing/CD-vs-LP info here (though as always I'd welcome any suggestions) ... I'm asking strictly in musical terms. Thanks!

I know that it is a fairly radical suggestion, but you could always start at the beginning. Rhino recently put out the first two Atlantic albums on one CD. These have been OOP for many years. The first album in particular is very stark and powerful, altho' I suppose it lacks the very overt humour of Loudon's later work.
I think that it is a limited edition release that may only be available from Rhino's website (that's where I got mine).

I have six or seven of his LPs that are excellent, new for $6-10, if you want some. I'm a big fan.
Drop me a line if you want some to:

The One Man Guy compilation is superb, a real hoot.
