I just pulled my Heart: Dreamboat Annie and gave it a good listen, now that my polarity is correct:rolleyes:

Incrediable the way you achieved those very low, say 16-18Hz, bottom end bass notes without going into distortion. The absolute best mix ever.

Kudos Steve;)

Thanks, Dave. Remember I didn't mix it, just mastered it.

;)

True Steve, but you are the only one who seems to have mastered it correctly as every other version of it seems to go into spasmodic distortion on those bass notes if you get to hear them at all.

The bottom string of an electric bass guitar in standard tuning is around 40 Hz. If you halved that (20 Hz), you'd drop an octave. In other words, I don't think anything on the Heart disc is in the range you're suggesting -- that's more like pipe organ territory.

Patrick, buddy, you need an icon befitting that extra large brain you are toting around. May I suggest...

Patrick M,

All I know for sure is that a few of Steve's recordings, Bob Seger comes to mind, and some MFSL's (namely DSOTM) reach a rock bottom, room shaking, bass frequency, while still remaining non-distorted.
