Actually, I auditioned the Watt Puppies (I think.... tired tonight) and I thought they were a tad on the dark side. But the good thing is that I thought the RS8's held their own!

Why did you sell your Sonus Faber Concertino's? I heard that they are a really fine speaker....

I sold the Concertino's and kept the Vienna Acoustic Haydn's(two very similar speakers) because in my humble opinion the Haydn's sounded better at playing a wider spectrum of music. The concertino's produced female vocals with more accuracy, but the Haydn's were more coherent from top to bottom. Just MHO. Thanks for replying Gary.:)

The first speakers I ever bought were a pair of Realistics from Radio Shack to replace the OEM speakers on the Sanyo cube I had in the mid '80s. I thought they were great beacause they had more bass...I'm still learning.

I bought a new JVC setup in '89 (Just sold my Monster ICs from that today) with some Advent Legacies w/matching baby Legacies for surround.

About a year later I added some new Boston Acoustics to the B jacks.

In 1993 I replaced the Bostons and Advents with Polk's new satellie/sub system. I was so excited about the big sound from a small package, I didn't even notice all the midrange was missing.

Seven years later I copied my buddy and bought some JBL Studio 312s. They made everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) sound good.

Fast forward to late 2002 when I started replacing all my electronics again, and I knew it was time to upgrade my speakers to complement the better sources. Paradigm Studio 60s are what I have now until my version 3 Studio 100s come in hopefully this week.

I can't wait to see what I will have in another decade.

AR 5 - same legendary 3a, but slightly smaller woofer.

Bose 901 Series II (the last good speaker they ever made). If you never heard them, they sounded nothing like the hollow- sounding cheapo stuff Bose makes today. Mucho inefficient, though, with the EQ boosting bass by 6db.

Advent (large Advent, as it was called)

JBL Jubal L65 (tweeters in those things bring some $$$ these days).

JBL 240Ti - hooo-ey!! Biggie 15" woof woof...

In the works, I'm trying to build a 9 driver IB for my surround system, and a 15" sealed subwoofer based on Adire Audio's Tempest driver with a 250W amp for the MartinLogans.

When I think about it, I could only wish higher end speakers were sold here. The best models we get are B&W (grossly overpriced), Energys (even more overpriced), and MartinLogans. That explains the vast number of mid-fi speakers I own...

That's why I separated B&W, Energy and MartinLogan from the rest. Thanks to all of your suggestions, my Logans now sound like heaven to me. I refuse to listen to my other systems now :D

ps - And now that my dealer lent me an Audioquest speaker cable, things are getting even better!

Speaker cable did make a difference with my speakers, although it was a subtle one... I know I wouldn't buy an Audioquest cable for my old JBL's, for example :D

I've been looking to replace them for two (2) years now. And I just can't decide... There are too many choices, and to my ears a lot of new speakers don't sound as good as what I have (for the price).

Avantgarde Acoustics Uno (two way horn/self-powered subwoofer hybrid) - 2001 to date.

My RS8's are over 20 years old. And I still think they sound great! :thumbsup:

If I were you, I'd only trade 'em in if I found a significant difference!

Spica TC-50 (for my own use, love that speaker and I misss John Bau's designs) and also bought Klipsch Khorns for parties and loud music
Bought Magnepan SMGA's before leaving college - bye bye to the Khorns and TC-50s
Played around with Thiel CS-1's got rid of them and upgraded to Maggie 1.5
Sold those and got some ML CLS w/Velodyne Sub
Sold those and bought Artemis EOS Signatures with Subs. Still have those speakers and also have Maggie 3.6's
